  1.   3) Moving from a Central Bus System to a Precision Bus System

  3.   A) FOR PRODUCTS USING THE PSI CARD, NS Point-to-Point Link (36922A)
  4.      SNA Link (30291A), and BSC Link (32007A);
  5.  
  6.      Whether customers will be upgrading to a higher tier, staying on
  7.      the same tier, or downgrading to a lower tier, they will need to
  8.      purchase the Precision Bus PSI card for the new system. At this
  9.      time, we do not have return credits for the Central Bus PSI card.
  10.      We are investigating adding a return credit product.

  12.      Order examples;
  13.      Upgrading a S/932 to a S/957:

  15.          36922A option 002 - Precision Bus PSI card
  16.                 option 099 - no cable (current cable can be used)
  17.                 option 330 - link software for S/957
  18.                 option 0CE - upgrade credit for S/932

  20.      Same tier exchange - a S/935 for a S/957:

  23.                 option 099 - no cable
  24.                 option 399 - Hardware only

  26.      Downgrading a S/935 to a S/947:

  33.      Note: SNA Link and BSC Link do not have a hardware only option,
  34.            399.  This option will be available on the January 1 CPL. In
  35.            the meantime, customers can order only the Precision Bus PSI
  36.            card via the NS Point-to-Point product when they a staying
  37.            on the same tier.

  39.    B) FOR THE LAN CARD, ThinLAN Link (36923A);
  40.  
  41.       9X7 AND 9X7LX SYSTEMS
  42.  
  43.       All 9X7 and 9X7LX systems require only one LAN card for terminal,
  44.       printer, and X.25 communication, and system-to-system traffic.
  45.       Customers can use the LAN card shipped with the system for LAN
  46.       traffic, thus they need to only order the software portion of the
  47.       LAN Link if they are upgrading or downgrading. (If they are
  48.       staying on the same tier, they do not need to order anything for
  49.       their ThinLAN product. They can use their current software. For
  50.       the hardware, the LANIC card shipped with the system has a
  51.       ThinLAN MAU built onto it. If customers want to use an EtherTwist
  52.       MAU or ThickLAN MAU, they can use the MAU from their current
  53.       system. There is an external AUI connector for ThickLAN MAUs or
  54.       Ethertwist MAUs on the card.) At this time, we do not have return
  55.       credits for the LANIC card on 900 series HP 3000s. We are
  56.       investigating adding a return credit product.

  73.       The Precision Bus systems are shipped with a CIB adapter that
  74.       allows customers to plug their LAN card from the current Central
  75.       Bus system into the new Precision Bus system. Thus customers only
  76.       need to order the software portion of the LAN Link.
